From Maternity to Milestones with Chelsea and Elowyn

Chelsea’s Maternity Shoot at Vogel State Park

Some families become part of your story, and Chelsea and Bruce are one of those families for me.

I first met them during their maternity session at Vogel State Park. I still remember how peaceful that evening felt and how much love filled the air as they waited to meet their baby girl. That session has always stayed close to my heart.

Since then, I have had the joy of photographing so many special moments for them, including newborn photos and Santa minis. Most recently, we met again to celebrate baby Elowyn turning one. Chelsea wanted to honor this milestone and the beautiful journey of nursing for a full year. We chose the historic Castleberry Bridge for their session, right after a soft summer rain, and the setting could not have been more perfect.

Chelsea wore one of the gowns from my client closet, which is included with all of my luxury sessions, along with the same wings from her maternity portraits. It felt full circle and so meaningful, almost like revisiting the beginning of her motherhood story while celebrating how far she has come. We started in the water for a peaceful and emotional nursing session, followed by Elowyn’s cake smash. The light danced on the water, and there was laughter all around. Bruce even grilled burgers for us after we wrapped up, which made the evening feel like time spent with friends.

Chelsea selected two large acrylic prints from this session to hang alongside their maternity and newborn portraits. Together they tell such a beautiful story of growth, love, and family. Moments like this remind me why I love what I do. Watching families grow and being trusted to capture these milestones is the greatest honor.
