Atlanta Georgia Milestone Photographer- Amelia’s Cake Smash Studio Session
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I love being able to come alongside my clients and document their special occasions together. Amelia’s mom and dad, Julia and Jared, have been with me from the beginning of their parenting journey. I did their maternity session, and Amelia’s newborn session as well as her three month milestone, six month milestone, and even Santa pictures! So, needless to say this sweet family has been planning this special cake smash for quite some time.
Julia does a lot of research and she usually has a certain look she wants me to help her create to make each of her sessions truly unique. This one was no different. They love purple and anything to do with “love” so we started off on a neutral backdrop while Amelia wore a custom made heart dress just in time for Valentine’s Day. This sweet girl has a super sassy personality and she loves to perform for the camera.
Next, we changed Amelia into a classic vintage white dress and bonnet. We captured some beautiful lifestyle shots of her in a peacock chair that Julia’s grandmother brought along, then we had Julia and Jared join in for some beautiful family images. I loved this chair so much, I found one of my own to add to my studio! We moved to my new arch backdrop that I love using and we were able to get some more beautiful photos of the family together and individuals with mom and dad.
Julia has wanted to do a generational photo for a long time, and today was finally the day we were able to create this beautiful memory and image for her. Julia’s grandmother and mother came along to the session, and the three of them wore all black. First we did a really cool and unique profile shot of all four generations. It is incredible to see their likeness and how similar all four of them look, especially from the side! Then we captured some casual editorial pictures of the generations in front of the piano. To finish this series off, we took some photos of Amelia with her great grandmother and then with her grandmother. These are the kind of forever memories that I never get tired of being able to capture and be a part of.
Finally it was time to pull the cake out. You know this custom cake came from our favorite, Jamie Bakes and the custom florals on the top came from Lacey Creative Design! We changed Amelia one more time into a dusty purple tulle dress and after getting a couple more irresistible family photos we let Amelia do her thing. We didn’t have to tell her twice, and she dug right into the cake, and soon, she was covered in it. Amelia really loved eating her cake and getting to be a part of the action of being in front of the camera.
Jared and Julia really wanted to go all out for this session, and they purchased a 5x7 matted tri-fold, a large acrylic, a 10x10 heirloom album, a grandparent album, and a 16x16 framed collage.
